On To A New Adventure: A Letter From Co-Founder Rick Peterson

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with great excitement and mixed emotions that I am announcing a change in my status at Cornerstone. After 45 years in design and construction, I am retiring. I am on to a new adventure.

It seems like yesterday I was fresh out of the Navy, starting college in Ocean Beach, San Diego and working for an architect named Ed Huxley. That summer I built brick patios, retaining walls and fences for Ed’s new office while he taught me what architects really do. Who knew that this first job would forever alter the course of my life?

It has been 30 years since I started Cornerstone. I built this business because not only did I want to pursue excellence in architecture design, but I also wanted to build a great place to work. My time here has been filled with many challenges, lessons and opportunities. These opportunities will continue as I support Cornerstone as a business development mentor and consulting senior architect.

I am very proud of the emerging leadership energy and focused-design talent of the new Cornerstone Architecture and Interior Design. Charles Selden, Erik Quackenbush and Amanda Monger are taking the helm and I am confident that they will continue to steer Cornerstone as passionate advocates for our clients in solving all their design challenges.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your insights, support and friendships over the years.

Not saying goodbye, but until we meet again on a new and exciting adventure,

Rick Peterson

I wanted freedom, open air and adventure. I found it on the sea.
